TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
The tarangire National Park derives its name from the Tarangire river which rises in Tanzania’s central highland and snakes its way through the length of this sanctuary. The river lures thousands of plains game to banks of its brackish waters especially during the dry season. At this time the concentration of animals in the park rivals that of the Serengeti. The park has many African Elephants per square kilometers than any other national park in the country. , lies about 120Km southwest of Arusha City. In this park, visitors are able to see species such as the Python, cheetah, elephants, African wild dogs, lesser and greater Kudu, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk and others. Birdlife is amazing with about 550 species of birds recorded, which is the larger number of bird species than the famous Serengeti.
